Golf courses are considered an essential service in some locations and may continue to operate even if an evacuation order is issued. Golf courses may continue to operate even if an evacuation order is issued. The word "essential" is meaningless unless redefined to mean its opposite, but golf is probably one of the best of all the sports you can play right now in that you don't have to be in close proximity to other people to play. [because for $10 on Steam, it would be a lot of fun to get a voice chat group together to try out the maps together.
The news this week is that Golf With Your Friends will be exiting Early Access on May 19, but as it stands, it is nearly complete. Eleven of the planned 12 official courses are already available, and user-created courses can be downloaded from the Steam Workshop.
We don't know exactly what the 1.0 release will look like, but at least now we'll have to do some troubleshooting here and there and deal with some junk. I was playing with a friend the other week (it's how I play golf with friends) and several players were crashing several times. But it has come a long way. In the early days of Early Access, GWYF was so broken that every time someone left the lobby, they had to rebuild the whole thing to get people to play again. That has been fixed and the interface is much better.
Still, your balls will probably do stupid things and occasionally get stuck, and while it's not ready for the esports scene, "Golf With Your Friends" is a pretty decent multiplayer mini-golf game when it's working. More importantly, you can play with a puck instead of a golf ball. As with Rocket League, this applies to golf as well.
