Bleeding Edge to Get Dolphin-Powered Mech Next Week

You can do a lot of silly things in video games, but I'm still impressed that the next playable character in "Bleeding Edge" is a mecha controlled by a loudmouth dolphin. The dolphin's name is Mekko, and he is a shooting tank armed with a sonar gun and a sturdy bubble block shield. Once super charged, he has a dangerous sonic barrage at his disposal, or else he will set off bubble traps.

Mekko is the dolphin among mechs, because that's what really matters. He was scheduled to join the Bleeding Edge roster last month, but after being delayed to deal with various post-launch glitches, Mekko will join the game in a patch scheduled for next week.

Ninja Theory announced as much in a new blog post, also confirming new unlockable emotes and techno-viking boards.

Meanwhile, the studio is currently working on new fighters and maps, as well as testing ideas for new game modes and the possibility of adding custom and ranked modes.

Morgan reviewed "Bleeding Edge" last month, noting that "the characters are cool, but the combat is too shallow to last long." With any luck, that will change in future updates.
