General
Release date for "Super Mega Baseball 3" changed to May.

There are many reasons to look forward to "Super Mega Baseball 3". It's been a great series of baseball simulators so far, there aren't many other baseball games available on the PC, and I haven't had many opportunities to actually watch professional baseball games this year due to COVID-19. When I heard that the release of [Super Mega Baseball 3] had been pushed back from late April to mid-May, I certainly understand why, but naturally I am a little disappointed.

Metalhead Software announced that Super Mega Baseball 3 will be released on May 13 because "industry-wide changes due to COVID-19 have resulted in a revised release date."

But there is at least one more cool video outlining how much has changed from the previous SMB game due to the news of the release being off by a few weeks. A few weeks ago we got a nice look at the new franchise mode, which includes player trades, free agents, retirements, and player skills that evolve over time. We also heard about a tool that allows you to import your "Super Mega Baseball 2" team into "SMB3". A player might be an "RBI Man" who is more likely to get a hit when there are runners in scoring position (or an "RBI Dud" who performs worse under the same circumstances). A pitcher might be characterized as less accurate when pitching in a three-ball count, while a batter might do better when swinging at left-handed pitchers or pitches in a higher strike zone. Some players have no situational traits, while others have one or two. These traits will help differentiate them from other players and make them feel less like a pile of unconventional stats.

The new video below highlights situational characteristics of players. A player might be an "RBI man" who is more likely to hit when there are runners in scoring position (or an "RBI dud" who performs worse in the same situation). If you are a pitcher, you might be characterized as less accurate when pitching in a 3-ball count, and if you are a hitter, you might be better off swinging at left-handed pitchers or pitches in a higher strike zone. Some players do not have situational traits, while others have one or two. These traits help differentiate them from other players and make them feel less like a pile of unconventional stats.
