WWE 2K21 will not happen this year

2K Games has released a WWE game every year since 2011, but that steady streak is coming to an end, as WWE CFO Frank Riddick made this announcement today on an investor conference call, stating that in 2020 a brand-themed He stated that no video games will be released.

The disastrous WWE 2K20 probably did not bode well for the series, although Riddick did not explain the exact reason. The game was famously broken at launch, resulting in incredible trauma.

It has long been rumored that WWE 2K21 would never happen. Justin Leeper, a former writer for the series, said in a video earlier this month that he is convinced the game has been canceled. Interestingly, Leeper also said that another style of WWE game may be released by 2K in 2020.

Leeper said in the same video that "WWE 2K22" has not been canceled yet, and it is possible that Visual Concepts, the developer of "WWE 2K20," just needs time to learn how to develop wrestling games, as last year's game showed.
