AMD's latest driver update fixes a number of bugs, including a black screen issue on the Radeon RX 5700

AMD is working diligently to resolve the intermittent black screen issue affecting some Radeon RX 5700 series owners, but has yet to completely eliminate the problem. if you have a 5700 series graphics card and are still experiencing this problem, Try installing the latest GPU drivers from AMD.

The update (20.4.2) addresses nearly a dozen issues, some of which are related to system hangs and crashes in various scenarios, not just the Radeon RX 5700 series. [One of the fixes described in the release notes is that the Radeon RX Vega card hangs or black screens when running the Folding@home client while simultaneously running an application that uses hardware acceleration Addressing the issue, AMD also stated that they have fixed an issue where XSplit would hang or freeze when switching between scenes.

The black screen issue affecting some RX 5700 owners is one that has been lingering since early 2020. Last month, AMD asked users still encountering the problem to submit bug reports on a special site dedicated to the issue.

"If you are still experiencing any issues with your system, please submit a bug report so we can get started on a fix... Posting issues on Reddit or other community forums, while helpful, does not necessarily mean we will find your post and or get enough information from it. Therefore, the best way to get your issue resolved quickly would be to submit a report directly to us," AMD said in a blog post. We will have to wait and see if this latest driver update will permanently fix the problem.

In addition to various bug fixes, AMD points out that the driver has been optimized for Gears Tactics and Predator, which Wes acknowledged are "shockingly good strategy games: Hunting Grounds".
