Morrowind Rebirth MOD gets a major update to celebrate the 18th anniversary of Morrowind

The Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind is officially an adult, at least in the U.S. Bethesda's RPG turns 18 today, and to celebrate, the modder behind the massive overhaul mod Morrowind Rebirth has made a major update. This is version 5.1, and the last time we wrote about Morrowind Rebirth was in November 2019, when the 5.0 update was finalized.

"This update is a bit smaller than previous updates, but as always contains a lot of interesting stuff," modder trancemaster_1988 wrote. It contains many bug fixes and changes to previously added features. You can see Rebirth's attention to detail in these updates: "The large bridge at Gnisis has been moved just south of Fort Darius. It didn't make sense to have the bridge where it is because it would make the fort useless as a defensive fortress."

Now, on to the brand new additions in Rebirth 5.1:

Also, balancing of potions and spells, graphic adjustments for "hundreds of various fine mesh/texture edits," and some entirely new models and textures here and there There are.

Looking back at the history of Morrowind Rebirth, the mod has been in development since 2010, earlier than the release of Skyrim and roughly three times longer than Bethesda has spent on Morrowind itself. For more on why modders are so devoted to Morrowind, see our 2017 feature here.
