The creepy, cursed hobbit Gollum is coming to his own game, courtesy of Daedalic Entertainment.

Earlier this year, Daedalic stated that he was not trying to recreate the character from the Andy Serkis version of the Peter Jackson film, but while he looks a little different, both versions use the same reference material and are not too far apart.

A preview in GameStar revealed Gollum's new look and some of the environment he will infiltrate. He still has light hair, huge eyes, and a pale complexion, but Daedalic seems to be going for something a bit more stylish.

The first screenshot also shows Mordor, with lots of black and red, imposing towers and lots of spikes. It is not a place you would want to visit unless you are in the middle of some dangerous and important quest.

Gollum's main skill is being sneaky and nimble, so expect lots of climbing and scaffolding while staying out of the way of pesky orcs, but a little more interesting is the internal conflict between Gollum's personalities. As shown in the screenshot, the choice reflects both Gollum's and Sméagol's personalities.

Lord of the Rings: Gollum is due out next year, see screenshots below.
