High-speed 27" 144Hz monitor with FreeSync support on sale for $275

Another of Acer's 27-inch gaming monitors is on sale. This is for a curved FreeSync 2 HDR display with a 144Hz refresh rate that keeps the action fast and smooth; Newegg has it down to $299.99, and with coupon code EMCDKDH33, the price drops even further to $274.98 The price will be $399.99.

That's a savings of $75.01 on this deal. Equally important, this is as cheap as any 27-inch monitor with the same specs and features, unless you try your luck with an off-brand/generic model. Almost all 27-inch monitors with these specs cost $300 or more.

The monitors sold here use VA panels; like IPS displays, VA screens usually offer a wider color gamut, better image quality, and more flexible viewing angles than cheaper TN panels. However, with a claimed gray-to-gray response time of 4 ms and a refresh rate of 144 Hz, the EI272UR should be a good choice for competitive gaming.

FreeSync 2 HDR support adds more value on the variable refresh side than on the HDR side. Technically, HDR support can be obtained with DisplayHDR 400 certification. However, the monitor's peak brightness of 400 nits is far short of the eye-popping 1,000 nits of brightness that some high-end (and much more expensive) HDR displays can achieve.

Nevertheless, HDR support is there. As for connectivity, the monitor offers three HDMI inputs and one DisplayPort input. It also has a 2-watt built-in speaker for use when the need arises.
