Evil Genius" is now free.

From Rebellion, "Put a stop to all home productivity and send the world to the bottom of incompetence!" is the lockdown pitch, and you can now get the Steam version of the publisher's darkly humorous strategy game "Evil Genius" for free.

To get the game, click this link and link your Rebellion account to Steam. This giveaway is unpublished and "time-limited," so you might as well get it as soon as possible.

In "Evil Genius," you play one of three evil genius archetypes and build a lair that includes a "kung fu academy, rocket cave, and laboratory." You gather henchmen to roam the corridors, hunt down invading James Bond types, send your goons out into the world to do evil, and eventually build a doomsday device so you can take over the world.

It's a nice way to spend a weekend. This giveaway is also a good way to remind everyone that Evil Genius 2 is still in development. If you want to see it in more detail, the game was shown at last year's PC Gaming Show.

To help new players, Rebellion also has a tips video, but unfortunately it doesn't mention the unspoken rule that you have to point your fingers Mr. Burns-style during all the action and occasionally laugh maniacally into the monitor No, I haven't. If you're going to be evil, you have to do it right.
