Bethesda Says Details of "The Elder Scrolls 6" Will Not Be Revealed for "Several Years"

The Elder Scrolls 6 was announced at E3 2018 with a short flyover of nondescript mountains, some generic music, and a title that wasn't really a title at all, as it didn't even say where the game was. Despite the complete lack of any real information, everyone was extremely excited about the fact that they were getting a new entry in one of the biggest and most successful RPG series of all time.

At PAX East in 2019, executive producer Todd Howard warned that the new "Elder Scrolls" was still very far off and that Bethesda would not be talking about it at E3 that year. Then E3 2019 came around and people wanted to talk about it anyway, leading Howard to say that the sci-fi RPG "Starfield" is Bethesda's priority right now, and that it too is a long way off.

We thought we might get some information about TES6 this year, but then E3 was canceled and Bethesda clearly didn't have enough pipes to justify its own digital show.

But that was in April, and now it is May. Perhaps, with the days getting longer and the warm sun beating down on our faces, we might also get a little Elder Scrolls surprise? Perhaps?

No, no. According to Pete Hines, Bethesda's SVP of Marketing and Communications, he's in a position to know this sort of thing well, anyway.

Hope springs eternal in the human breast, or whatever, but seriously, leave the poor guy alone.

That's all we know so far about "The Elder Scrolls," and frankly, it's not much. One interesting thing is the trademark dispute over the word "Redfall," which was settled in 2019. Some Redditors have theorized that the word is somehow a plague that appears in the game, perhaps like the Corprus disease at the heart of Morrowind: the Redguard

or maybe it's nothing like that. We don't know yet, and we won't know for a while.
