Larian Announces Divinity: Original Sin 2, June Announcement

Larian Studios is now immersed in Baldur's Gate 3. I don't know if anyone can revive that series in a way that will satisfy old CRPG players with vague memories of nostalgia, but if I had to pick one studio to take on this task, it would probably be Larian.

But apparently that's not all he's been working on lately: the Guerrilla Collective digital event, a live stream of news and announcements from indie studios around the world that takes place on the same day as the PC Gaming Show and Future Games Show and that Larian will be participating in June, it was learned yesterday. One Twitter user hoped that the show would include some news about the "Divinity" game, to which Michael Daus, Larian's publishing director, replied that he planned to do so.

One has to assume that Larian is focusing all of its efforts on the development of "Baldur's Gate 3," especially now that the COVID-19 pandemic is slowing things down. However, "Divinity:" was a huge hit for the studio, and it has established itself well enough to have taken on the Baldur's Gate series in the first place. It could be an update of the board game, or, and this may be less likely, a remaster of Divine Divinity and Beyond Divinity, the excellent but overlooked originals of the series of RPGs.

What won't happen, and this is no surprise, is "Divinity": in addition to Larian, Guerrilla Collective also includes 11 bit, Coffee Stain, Fellow Traveller, Raw Fury, Ysbryd Games, ZA/UM News and announcements from more than 20 indie studios, including Larian, as well as 11 bit, Coffee Stain, Fellow Traveller, Raw Fury, Ysbryd Games, ZA/UM; starting at 10 a.m. PT (1 p.m. PT) on June 6, followed at 11:30 a.m. PT (2:30 p.m. PT) by an event from Paradox Interactive, the developer behind "Crusader Kings 3" will be followed by a 30-minute deep dive on the Then, at 12 p.m. PT (3 p.m. PT), Sean "Day9" Plott and Frankie Ward will once again guide us through the "PC Gaming Show," and at 2:30 p.m. PT (5:30 p.m. PT), the biggest console, mobile, and streaming games of the year will be introduced at the Future Gaming Show," which will showcase the biggest console, mobile and streaming games of the year, at 2:30 p.m. PT.
