Play Dance Dance Revolution V on PC for free

I will always fondly remember visiting the local movie theater and playing on a beat-up old DDR arcade machine placed awkwardly in one corner. Ever since then, I've been hoping that this arcade game would make its way to the PC, and it finally did.

Konami has released Dance Dance Revolution V as a browser game for the PC. Since it is an open alpha version, it has only basic features and 15 songs. It can be downloaded for free for a limited time, but Konami has not elaborated on when the alpha version will end. If you have a USB DDR mat gathering dust somewhere in your cupboard, now is the time to get it.

If you don't have a mat, you can use the arrow keys to play the songs, but even if you have a mat on hand, Konami says that connecting it to the game "is not guaranteed to work perfectly, but if you are interested, give it a try."

To play Dance Dance Revolution V, one must first set up a Konami ID and load the game from the official website. According to the game's description, DDR V works with Chrome, Edge, and Firefox, but not Internet Explorer; it requires 2 BG of memory, a good Internet connection, and blasting speakers or headphones.

If you want a catchier rhythm game, check out "Sayonara Wild Hearts," "Thumper," "Beat Saber," and "Bullets per minute," which Andy described as Doom but a rhythm game.

Thanks, Eurogamer. 11]

[An earlier version of this article incorrectly referred to DDR V as DDR 5. We apologize for the confusion]
