Euro 2020 finals to be held virtually this weekend

There isn't much real soccer going on outside of our yards at the moment, but almost as soon as the games started getting cancelled, a digital alternative to it appeared: while Euro 2020 has been postponed until next year, its virtual replacement, eFootball PES 2020, is this weekend at the will take place.

Sixteen countries will participate, with a total prize pool of €100,000 and €40,000 for the winner. Unfortunately, Virtual Scotland seems to be having as much luck in virtual football as in the real thing.

The 16 teams in the final tournament, from Spain to Luxembourg, are probably quite different from what was expected in the real Euro 2020. They are divided into four groups. The full list is as follows.

The final group matches will be available on YouTube on May 23 at 1:00 p.m. (9:00 a.m. EDT May 24). The quarterfinals will kick off at 10:00 a.m. (5:00 a.m. CST), beginning a day of virtual football that will culminate with the grand finals the same evening.

Group D seems to be the one to watch. Greece, France, and Israel are unbeaten. But maybe this underdog is the adversity needed to beat the others. I don't usually watch much soccer, but I'm bored right now, so maybe I will.
