Razer Announces New Blade Pro 17 Gaming Laptop with 300Hz Screen

Razer has unveiled the all-new Razer Blade Pro 17, a 17-inch gaming laptop capable of delivering "more cores, faster screens, and bigger wins" (whatever that last means.) For the 2020 model year, this Razer gaming laptop features Nvidia RTX graphics, a 300Hz display, and an Intel 10th generation Comet Lake CPU.

The new Razer Blade Pro 17 is available in three models, divided by screen and GPU selection.

From the 240 Hz display introduced in the 2019 model, the new Razer Blade Pro 17 will feature a display with up to 300 Hz for smooth gaming and bragging rights. This refresh rate gives you 1080p resolution, but there's also a 4K, 120Hz panel that's even more appealing to those looking to use this machine for professional work: the 4K model is a bit brighter and has 100% Adobe RGB color gamut coverage, both on an IPS panel, Color accuracy should be decent.

Whether you can actually reach frequencies close to 300Hz in-game depends on whether you choose the RTX 2070 Max-Q or RTX 2080 Super Max-Q on the Blade 17 Pro. So either GPU should work fine for gaming.

At least Razer is pulling out all the stops with the Pro's CPU: all three models are powered by the same 10th generation Intel Core i7 10875H, the last chip in the Comet Lake mobile stack, just below the unlocked Core i9 10980HK It has a total of 8 cores and 16 threads at 5.1 GHz boost and 2.3 GHz base.

All models come with 16GB of 2,933 MHz RAM and up to 1TB of NVMe SSD storage.

The Razer Blade Pro 17 packs it all into a 395 x 260 x 19.9 mm CNC aluminum enclosure that weighs in at just 6.06 pounds. The product is intended to be "a desktop alternative that can be carried elsewhere if needed." By this standard, the Blade Pro 17 is quite slim.

All three have USB-C charging, which is ideal if you intend to move the Razer Blade Pro 17 from place to place and want to keep the rest of your kit to a bare minimum.

But high-end components come at a higher price, too: the Blade Pro 17 starts at $2,600 with a 300Hz display, 512GB SSD, and RTX 2070 Super Max-Q, and upgrading to the RTX 2080 Super Max-Q model This will bring the price to $3,200. The 4K model, a mobile powerhouse, is priced at $3,800.

So how about a less massive desktop alternative: the Razer Blade Pro 17 certainly has the silicon to back it up, but it's not cheap.
