Summer Game Fest joins Day of the Devs for two events

Day of the Devs is an annual festival hosted by Double Fine Studios and iam8bit that is free and open to all, allowing fans to meet and play with indie developers and sample upcoming games. Obviously, such things aren't going to fly this year, so it's getting wrapped up in Summer Game Fest, Geoff Keighley's months-long online extrava games extravaganza.

The first and second of the newly announced showcases will take place on June 22 and July 20, respectively, and each promises news, gameplay demonstrations, and "video game music performances." Confirmed participants include Akupara Games, Annapurna Interactive, The Behemoth, Finji, Kowloon Nights, Longhand Electric, MWM Interactive, Panic, Sabotage Studio, Skybound Games, Team17, thatgamecompany, Tribute Games, ustwo games, and more. [iam8bit's Amanda White and Jon Gibson said, "From the lengthy gameplay previews that have become a Day of the Devs staple to special surprise debuts, each showcase is jam-packed." This is the Day of the Devs you've loved for the past eight years, made especially for the digital space."

Developers who want to get their work in front of people can apply here. They can also follow along at dayofthedevs.com if they want to stay on top of what's going on and when, or summergamefest.com for the entire Summer Game Fest.

In June, the PC Gaming Show will return on June 13, and you can find a schedule of other online events happening this summer here. (Note: The PC Gaming Show was originally scheduled for June 6, but has been postponed a week.)
