The Division 2 Data Miner Uncovers Upcoming Story Details and New Game Modes

Update: Chris Gansler of Ubisoft Massive, developer of The Division 2, acknowledged the leak in a message posted on Reddit, saying that the studio is indeed working on a replayable PvE mode, but it is still in the very early stages He stated.

"Often when we do public test servers, the builds used for testing contain elements that will not be included in the next title update. Unfortunately, this time around we have included more elements than we would have liked, and we understand that story spoilers have impacted players who were looking forward to learning about the lore as they played. Nothing is finalized for future content, but please be considerate of these players and continue to use spoiler tags for these topics," Gansler wrote.

"We also wanted to confirm that we are indeed working on further content outside of the upcoming season and that one of our current ideas is to add a PVE mode to scratch the replayability itch. This is still in the early stages of development and will not be released immediately. Additionally, we understand that comparisons are being made to "Underground," but we do not intend to simply copy the previous game mode, and we want to make it clear that this new mode is not "Underground 2.0" but a unique and new take on this topic We want to make it clear."

Original story here:

With the weekend just around the corner, Ubisoft has set up a public test server for The Division 2 to check out some of the changes that will be made to the game in the next update. But player and redditor definitivelyanalt16 decided to check out more than that: they infiltrated the PTS build and discovered that Ubisoft's "The Division 2" Season 2 and beyond, including new game modes and the return of characters from the previous game They discovered an audio file that might reveal Ubisoft's plans for The Division 2 Season 2 and beyond, including new game modes and the return of characters from previous games.

Naturally, there are potential spoilers.

The manhunt in Division 2 is a multi-part event in which players hunt and kill five rogue agents (four deputies and one "prime target"), according to the Division Wiki description. In Season 1's Manhunt, for example, in Jupiter, players will run Chadwick Brandon III, Lucy Anders, Mary Masters, and Ryan Chang into the ground before going after their boss, Molly Henderson. According to leaks, Hornet, the rogue agent killed (or apparently not killed) in the Division boss fight, will be the prime target in Season 2.

Apparently no one thought to actually check on him at the end of the fight, and after the good guys packed their bags and went home, Aaron Keener sent another agent to pick him up and get him back on his feet.

The prime target for Season 3 was Badon Schaeffer, leader of the Black Task Force.

An even bigger buzz is the audio references suggesting that a new replayable mode may be in the works; according to Kotaku, in one audio file, Kelso says, "I think I can clear that skyscraper a lot faster if I do it again."

None of this is official, and it is possible that some or all of it is leftover from scrapped plans. Indeed, a redditor named Defuser claims to have reviewed the files, but says that the skyscraper speculation is based on "a handful of lines from Kelso" and "may represent an abandoned idea." However, there is certainly interest in the idea of a replayable endless mode: DiscoStu83 states that it "sounds like exactly what we were looking for a few years ago."

I have emailed Ubisoft asking for more information about the leak and will update if I hear back. In the meantime, if you would like to try out the changes made by Title Update 10 for "Division 2", the PTS is still in effect.
