Fortnite's Asian FNCS Invitational Winner Caught Cheating

The Fortnite FNCS Invitational brings together the top ranked players from all regions to compete solo, with the winner receiving a portion of the $2 million prize pool. The "solo" part is quite important, a lesson learned by Japanese player Sekosama, who won the Asian division of the Invitational and was stripped of his $15,000 prize money for "teaming" during the match.

"Teaming" means that Sekosama quietly cooperated with other players during the match in order to gain an advantage. According to Dexerto, Sekosama's cheating teammates left their loot in hidden places all over the map for Sekosama to find. The winner, on the other hand, reportedly kept in touch with his benefactor during the final match.

This is a violation explicitly prohibited by the rules of the FNCS Invitational: the official document states that "a player may not, during any match, deceive another player or cooperate to deceive another player." Examples of this include teaming, premeditated moves, communication, and dumping items, and Sekosama was found guilty of at least three of these.

In addition to forfeiting his prize money, Epic imposed a 14-day ban on the player; Sekosama's win was forfeited and player 'qjac' was declared the winner.

This was not the first ban at the Invitational, as 14-year-old pro player Quid was unexpectedly banned in the second match of the Oceania tournament. The player has since been accused of using Aimbot in the past, although the reason has not been disclosed.
