New Nvidia Drivers Prepare Your PC for the Next Big Windows 10 Update with Valorant

The May 2020 update for Windows 10 should arrive soon (after all, June is just around the corner), and when it does, GeForce GPU owners will be all set with Nvidia's latest drivers. This driver adds official support for updates and the Day-One driver in preparation for the Valorant release date.

Nvidia calls this driver a "Game Ready" driver for the Windows 10 May 2020 update; Nvidia typically reserves this designation for game releases, but not always

and the driver will be available for the Windows 10 May 2020 update.

"Game Ready drivers provide the best gaming experience for all major new releases," Nvidia says, "Before a new title is released, our driver team ensures that all performance tweaks and bug fixes are included to ensure the best gameplay on day one We are working right up to the last minute to make sure that this happens."

The May 2020 update is different from Microsoft's monthly security patches (known as Patch Tuesday updates because they are pushed to PCs on the second Tuesday of each month). Microsoft has committed to adding new features to Windows 10 twice a year, and the May 2020 update will be the first update of the year.

"The new Windows update brings a wide variety of new features, from GPU temperatures in Task Manager to the introduction of the new DirectX 12 Ultimate graphics API," Nvidia continues. [DirectX 12 Ultimate combines existing APIs and technologies into one. Notable ones include DirectX Raytracing (DXR), Variable Rate Shading (VRS), mesh shaders, sampler feedback, etc.

In addition to Windows 10 goodness, Nvidia's new 446.14 WHQL driver package brings optimizations for Valorant and support for Minecraft Dungeons, Crucible, and Disintegration.
