Ninja to host weekly Fortnite tournament series on Mixer

Tyler "Ninja" Blevins is launching a new competitive gaming series on Mixer that will pit 60 of the world's best Fortnite players and personalities against each other for a share of a $400,000 prize pool.

As reported by Deadline, Ninja Battles Featuring Fortnite includes Fortnite World Champion Kyle "Bugha" Giersdorf, YouTuber Nicholas "Nick Eh 30" Amyoony, Faze Clan's Soleil "Ewok" Wheeler, and others will be competing and streaming from their homes. Tournament commentary will be provided by Fortnite anchors and analysts BallaTW and MonsterDface.

"We joined the Mixer to push boundaries, create a different type of streaming content, and interact with fans in a new way. Ninja Battles brings new gameplay to the community. We are excited to share this competitive experience with our fans and invite fellow gamers and friends to join us."

It's unclear exactly how this Fortnite tournament will differ from other tournaments that have come before, but it's also a big move for Mixer, which reportedly signed Ninja from Twitch for between $20 million and $30 million in 2019. Since then, it has signed other major players including Shroud and King Gothalion, but this tournament series is its first big move into competitive gaming. [Ninja Battles Featuring Fortnite will begin on May 28 at 12 p.m. PT/3 p.m. ET and will run weekly for a total of six weeks.
