Far Cry 5 is free to play this weekend
[There are several reasons why I like Far Cry 5. For one, it's the game that Ubisoft used to brutalize James. (It's far from its initial potential, but it's still interesting enough to draw me back into the series after skipping 3, 4, and Primal. If you get tired of the stories of cultists and pre-criminals running amok, you can spend a day blasting down back roads in a truck with a Herc and a rocket launcher.

If you haven't tried it yet, this weekend is your chance. The showdown in Hope County is completely free to play. All of your progress in the game will carry over, should you choose to purchase it. To that end, the standard and gold editions will be available at 75% off ($15 and $22.50, respectively). The Complete Edition and Ultimate Edition, which includes the semi-sequel Far Cry, are also on sale: the Season Pass and each DLC are also on sale.

The Far Cry 5 free weekend sale begins May 29 at 6 a.m. PT/9 a.m. ET and ends May 31 at 1 p.m. PT/4 p.m. ET. Preloading is currently underway at ubisoft.com.
