The Witcher" series reaches 50 million sales.

Geralt remains a very popular boy, obviously due to his bubbly personality and love of jokes, but CD Projekt reports that sales this year have surpassed 50 million units, not bad considering that the last of the trilogy was released five years ago, but even since then, "The Witcher" has not been less, and "Thronebreaker" and ports have filled the void since Geralt's retirement.

This time last year, CDP reported that it had surpassed 40 million units, more than half of which were due to The Witcher 3. Considering that no new Witcher games have been released in the past year, that's a leap of about 10 million in just 12 months.

Netflix's adaptation of The Witcher movie undoubtedly had a lot to do with this, spurring sales of The Witcher 3, which aired in December 2019 and saw a 554 percent jump compared to December 2018. The following month, Steam surpassed 100,000 concurrent users for the first time.

The Witcher 3 was also released on Switch last year, followed by Throne Breaker: in January, The Witcher Tales was also released, which must have given the series a boost. This year, the older Witcher games also increased in popularity, with a big boost in December and January. Even today, it has more players at its peak than at any point since its launch.

This, of course, has led to an increase in cash for CDP, with sales of £39 million/$48 million, more than 2.5 times last year's first quarter, and net income of £19 million/$23 million, even more than last year.

Things are slowing down now that Netflix is moving away from the buzz and excitement of The Witcher, but they will be back for round two. Season 2 of "The Witcher" was slated to air next year, but that was before the production was halted due to the coronavirus. Hopefully we will catch up with Geralt and his gang in 2021, but until then, there is still a game to be played.
