Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy's Edge is a VR game about a theme park.

For the first time ever, you don't have to go to Anaheim or Orlando to explore the world of Batuu in a new Star Wars game. The game is set in Disney's Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge theme park, but in Tales from the Galaxy's Edge, instead of riding rides, you'll be embarking on an action adventure.

It's a VR production by ILMxLAB and Oculus Studios, who designed Vader Immortal, where you can roam around Batuu's Black Spire outpost and new areas of the planet, hang out with familiar and new characters, and explore various " styles of gameplay" (presumably meaning various traversal options, etc.) and difficulty settings can be expected to cast a wide net.

Details are scarce at the moment, but we'll know more soon, as the game will be released later this year. A game based on a theme park is not usually something I'm that enthusiastic about, unless it's a horror story, but with "Galaxy's Edge," Disney has created an entire world with its own history and intergalactic ties. It has appeared in books, comics, and TV shows, and is now firmly entrenched in the Star Wars canon.

In "Vader Immortal," there was nothing special about opening doors, wielding lightsabers, and tossing stormtroopers around; ILMxLAB has said it wants to move from storytelling to "storyLIVING," which is an anguished way of putting it, implying that they want to create a more player-driven story and not one that is railroaded.
