Call of Duty: Warzone finally has a duo

Earlier this month, Amos Hodge, creative director at Raven Software, said that duo mode would eventually appear in Call of Duty:Warzone battle royale after developers "find the right time and all that." Activision announced that pairing mode is now available in the game.

Warzone Duos mode will work the same way as Trios and Four-os, but with fewer opportunities to recover if things go sideways. With fewer backups, players are under more pressure to hold their own in a wider range of situations. [With only one more teammate to rely on, you must adjust your strategy, give the right instructions, and most importantly, make your shots hit if your buddy's life is in danger," Activision writes. [Having only two operators per squad also creates a potential meta-shift, as overkill perks may need to be used to consolidate multiple roles into one operator. The assault rifle and sniper builds are great, but if neither of them can handle close quarters combat with vehicles or shotguns, they could be in trouble.

The announcement offers a quintet of tips for a successful duo, most of which are pretty obvious: communicate, cooperate, and shoot straight. But the number one tip has a real competitive spirit that I like: if your partner sucks, cut them loose. Apparently, even in a duo, everyone is in it for themselves.
