The upcoming RPG The Waylanders will be revealed at the IGN Summer Showcase, whose main event was recently postponed to June 8. In the meantime, we've received some details about the fluffy (and not-so-fluffy) Dragon Age-adjacent RPGs that can join the party.
The ranger class can choose from 12 different pets in Waylanders, which is a pretty good choice for an animal companion in an RPG. (Just think about how many bears there are, though.)
As you can see above, the ferocious rabbit is one of the options. Here's the full list from developer Gato Studio:
Other classes don't get permanent pets, but some can summon temporary companions. In "Summon the Wild," for example, a healer can summon a spiritual guardian to the party. A goblin companion, a trustee, can also summon a wisp that can be "ammunition for certain abilities" or explode to inflict damage.
We first posted an appearance of The Waylanders two years ago, at which time we noted that Dragon Age creative director Mike Laidlaw was involved with the project. At the time, we stated that the RPG was aiming for an early 2020 release, and it looks like that prediction was right on target.
As of now, Gato says the release is "closer than we think," and we'll find out that date at the IGN show on June 8.
The schedule of non-E3 events this summer is as follows.
