A remaster of "Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning" will be released in August.

Released in 2012, "Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning" was an adequate action-RPG. In his review, Tom described it as having great combat and loot, but a "generic worldview and familiar story." Nevertheless, it has established a small cult following over the years, and THQ Nordic's 2018 acquisition of the brand has renewed hopes for a series revival.

Not quite a revival, but the game will be remastered. According to the Microsoft Store listing, Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning will be released on August 11. According to the product description, it will be "remastered with stunning visuals and polished gameplay" and will include all DLC.

The remastering is being done by Kayko, the same company that remastered "Darksiders" and "Legend of Kay": Anniversary Edition, among others.

"Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning" was first released by Electronic Arts in 2012. At the time, an MMO project set in the same world was underway; the Kingdom of Amalur name was not sold at auction in 2013, but THQ Nordic announced in 2018 that it had purchased the series.

The game featured big-name artists, with writer R.A. Salvatore collaborating on the story and comic artist Todd McFarlane on the art.
