The final major update for Battlefield 5 is now available.

Battlefield 5's summer update is here, and it's a big one, as it's the last major update planned for DICE's WW2 shooter: 9.75 GB of tweaks and new elements, two new maps and new weapons, gadgets and grenades, Vehicles will be available.

The two new maps are redesigned versions of Al Marj Encampment and Provence. The first map is dedicated to infantry in Libya and, according to the patch notes, is a mix of close combat and firefighting. The new Provence adds the outskirts of the French town and surrounding farmland. With the increased size, 64-player matches now support tanks as well.

The full patch notes can be found on the Battlefield 5 subreddit, along with a message from Freeman, DICE's community manager, explaining the modest push for this final release. He writes, "We recognize that there are more important conversations going on in the world today," and urges everyone to "pay attention to recent events in the U.S. and around the world. He continued, "Yesterday, we at EA made a commitment to educate, and then inspire meaningful change through action. This is a long-term commitment, and you can read more about it here.

No new major updates are planned, but the game still has small updates and special events in the works. As for what's next in the series, EA CEO Andrew Wilson told investors last October that the next installment will appear during the 2022 fiscal year, which begins in April 2021.
