Netflix's "The Witcher" to resume production soon?

Henry Cavill may soon have to go back to work, although the "Witcher" star has been killing time by painting Warhammer miniatures and appearing in memes since the show's production was temporarily halted by the COVID-19 pandemic, Deadline reports that major UK studios are preparing to resume work, including the studio where the Netflix series is being filmed.

The first season of The Witcher was filmed primarily in Hungary, but also on location in Spain and Poland. Production on Season 2 of "The Witcher" was moved to England, but was interrupted in March. Just then, former "Game of Thrones" star Christopher Hivju, who joined the series for the second season, revealed that he had tested positive for COVID-19.

According to a separate report in The Guardian, the British Film Commission and the British Film Institute have compiled guidelines on physical distancing, safety training, and temperature testing, which have been approved by government authorities, but it is up to each company to decide when and how to resume work. At least two production studios in the UK have already resumed work, and managing director Bob Terry said efforts are underway to reopen Arborfield Studios, including finalizing new safety procedures.

There has been no official announcement from Netflix regarding the possible imminent reopening of The Witcher. However, Cavill recently indicated that he is ready to return to work.
