LG Opens Pre-Orders for 48" OLED Gaming TV with G-Sync Support for $1,500

LG is at the forefront of the OLED TV revolution. The only caveat is the MSRP of $1,499.

This largely reflects the underlying OLED technology. For comparison, a 75-inch LCD TV can be had for less than $1,000 these days. But if you want to play in the OLED realm, you need to have a much larger budget.

Incidentally, LG's new 48CX model is the smallest OLED TV the company offers. All other OLED TVs are 55 inches or larger.

This is a 4K display that supports native 120 Hz refresh rates and variable refresh rates; it does not have a built-in G-Sync hardware module, but it is G-Sync compatible, and with the latest GeForce hardware and G-Sync mode It has been certified by Nvidia to work well with the latest GeForce hardware in G-Sync mode. It also supports AMD's similar FreeSync technology, but LG notes in fine print that it requires a software update and "may not be available at time of purchase."

We have high hopes for this panel, as we consider LG's larger 65-inch model, the OLED65E9PUA, to be the best gaming TV; the CX series is in a slightly different category, but at Rtings the 55-inch version offers "amazing all-around performance." and "very good for playing video games."

Those who want to believe that the 48-inch version offers the same (or similar) performance can pre-order it for $1,496.99 at B&H Photo.

Thanks.
