Gaming PC with GTX 1660 Ti on sale for $780

With disposable income and a desire for the cutting edge, it's fine to buy the latest and greatest hardware, but you don't have to play the latest games on the highest settings. In fact, some of the best deals on gaming PCs are available just before or just after new product launches; Dell has a reasonably fast gaming PC for $779.99 right now.

This is after applying promo code 50OFF699 at checkout. In total, that's a savings of $150 off MSRP, which is about what it would cost to build the same setup with parts from Newegg or Amazon.

What you get here is a Core i5 9400 processor and a GeForce GTX 1660 Ti graphics card. With this combination, you should be able to play most games at 1080p Ultra, and depending on the title, you should be able to achieve 60fps even at 1440p Ultra.

Being a relatively affordable PC, concessions had to be made in RAM and storage allocations: 8GB of RAM and a 256GB NVMe SSD + 1TB HDD combo. Ideally, a gaming PC would have 16GB of RAM and at least a 512GB SSD.

However, both of these are upgradable; it costs $100 to upgrade the RAM to 16GB and $100 to upgrade the storage to a 512GB SSD (also with a 1TB HDD) if you go through Dell. Nothing prevents you from doing these upgrades yourself.

How does this compare to building your own using the same parts? Let's take a look (prices are by Newegg):

Look at $726.88 before considering power supply and case. This price is also based on parts that I wouldn't necessarily choose brand name (I chose the cheapest I could find). Adding a case and PSU will likely exceed the asking price for this pre-build.

In short, this is a great deal for a mid-range gaming PC. It is also about $90 cheaper than the similarly equipped MSI Trident 3, one of this week's budget gaming PC deals.
