Xbox (beta) app begins rolling out mod support

As the popularity of Xbox Game Pass for PC grows, the shortcomings of the Xbox (beta) Launcher become more apparent. While the app itself is generally very functional, it lacks some important PC game features: mods, for example; games that can be easily modded on platforms like Steam and GOG are not immediately supported by Microsoft's app. But it doesn't look like that will be the case for long.

The latest update to the Xbox app adds a new feature. On the game's page, selecting "Enable Mods" and accepting the warning opens a link to the game's file structure, where you can insert the mod of your choice, a bit bare-bones compared to Steam's elaborate Workshops, so you'll have to look on the web for your own mods. paradox Interactive's Cities: Because Cities: Skylines can be improved considerably with mods.

Into the Breach and Phantasy Star Online 2 support this feature for now. Microsoft has promised to increase support for mods in the Xbox (beta) app, and this is the first time that promise has appeared in an app to date. Expect Microsoft to bring this support to more games as soon as possible.

Thanks to Windows Central for the information.
