Bungie job posting hints at a new "lighthearted and whimsical" game.

Bungie said in 2019 that it wants to "have other franchises within the market" by 2025, and apparently it is moving forward with that plan. It also seems to be going in a different direction than it has done over the past few decades with "Halo," "Destiny," and others: an application for an Incubation Art Director position released today hints at something not unlike "Destiny," although it clearly does not go into detail.

"Play.

"Are you on a mission to create a game that bonds players and creates a deeply invested community? Do you often think about how art impacts gameplay, how character design enables fans to cosplay, or how character poses and environments speak to different cultures around the world?" listed." As Incubation Art Director, you will work on all aspects of art to define the look and feel of Bungie's new IP and guide prototypes into production."

The description states.

There is no mention of a project name, but at this point it could be related to Matter, which is basically just a colorful logo with a mysterious trademark application filed in 2018. Whatever it is, Destiny 2 is a game that inspires many opinions (as does Halo for that matter), but I don't think anyone has described either as "lighthearted and whimsical."

The new game may be a big change in tone, but it doesn't seem to be a complete departure from Bungie's familiar ways; a post looking for an incubation investment designer for Bungie's "next great IP" reads, "You will work with our sandbox team and work with our Economy team to build and distribute items to our players. Living in a huge database of hundreds of jewelry, weapons, and armor is nothing new to you. Nor will building a system to skillfully distribute those items in a necromancer's dungeon." More prosaically, the successful candidate will "design, build, and coordinate a wide variety of tracking and loot systems."

This is interesting.

Thanks, TheGamePost.
