Hunt: Showdown" 1.4 Update Revamps Damage System, Adds New Toys

The latest update to the spooky battle royale "Hunt: Showdown" completely revamps the game's time-lapse damage system and adds new toys to take on the fearsome monsters of the bayou.

The majority of the 1.4 update concentrates on tweaking the various lingering damage mechanisms. There are three stages of burns and bleeds, each of which does more damage and takes longer to heal. Weaker enemies will do less of this type of damage than before, while stronger enemies and repeated attacks will instead do up to 50% more damage.

Meanwhile, the balance of poison has changed. The duration of poison is now a maximum of 20 seconds instead of the previous fixed duration. The time that the poison affects the player depends on factors such as the duration of exposure to the poison and the strength of the poison; according to Crytek, the reason behind this change is to allow players to be more creative in how they approach poisons.

To go along with the new poison system, poison trip mines were also introduced. Unlocked in the poison technology tree, these mines can be dropped in place and deal poison damage to players and AI enemies who happen to wander nearby.

A new trait, Serpent, has also been added, allowing players to interact with clues, rifts, and bounty hunters from a distance. This will be really helpful since interacting with these usually leaves you open to being attacked. Being able to hide and remotely control them could change the situation dramatically.

The last major content update in 1.4 will include five new legendary weapons (Nitro Express Rifle, Caldwell Uppercut, Martini Henry IC1 Riposte, Winfield M1873 Talon, Caldwell Rival 78 Hand Cannon) and one new Legendary hunter, Ferris. Like the other Legendaries, these can be unlocked by using prestige or blood bonds.

There are also a large number of small bug fixes and balance tweaks, all of which can be read in full in the official Steam patch notes.
