Destiny 2 eliminates skill-based matchmaking from most PvP modes

The big Destiny 2 news this week was the release of Season of Arrivals and the reveal of the upcoming expansion Beyond Light. (But big things are happening in Crucible as well; Bungie announced today that it has removed skill-based matchmaking from all PvP playlists except Elimination, Survival, and Survival: Freelance.

According to Bungie, this change was made in response to community feedback and will reduce queue times, improve match connection quality, and "take advantage of Crucible's strengths as a frenetic action game that prioritizes fun over winning at all costs that "takes advantage of the fact that the game is about having fun rather than winning at all costs.

Matchmaking in Trials of Osiris will continue to be based on passage wins, Bungie said." By pursuing glory points in "Survival" and "Flawless" in "Trials of Osiris," these playlists will reinforce the importance of match outcomes and keep the stakes high. We want the rest of the Crucible to be a less high-stakes environment where players can enjoy a more relaxed Destiny multiplayer sandbox experience"

.

The matchmaking changes to Crucible are already live, and Bungie has stated that they will monitor the situation and make adjustments if necessary. The company also revealed that a bug was discovered in the Season of the Worthy armor piece that allows all current "Charged with Light" armor mods to be equipped, just prior to the launch of Season of Arrivals. This bug will be fixed in the next hotfix, but until then Bungie intends to leave this bug alone so players can try the mod for the week. As with the Wither Horde glitch, enjoy it while you can.

The list of fixes that will be implemented in the 2.9.0.1 hotfix is as follows.
