Ubisoft's "Gods & Monsters" temporarily playable on Stadia

Ubisoft's mythological RPG Gods & Monsters has no release date yet, but it went live on Stadia yesterday, allowing hundreds of people to play for 30 minutes.

Stadia users found a new game named Orpheus in the store, but when they started playing, they were instead shown a very early build of Gods & Monsters filled with unfinished assets from Assassin's Creed and lots of stand-ins : Odyssey

"Odyssey" and "Gods & Monsters" are from the same team, and beyond the temporary reuse of assets, the influence of the previous work is obvious. Greek mythology, of course, but also an open-world RPG with lots of climbing and, from what I've seen, some pretty impressive scenery. There is also a strong "Breath of the Wild" vibe, and unlike "Odyssey," the height you can climb is determined by your stamina gauge.

"Regrettably, on Thursday morning, we accidentally released the E3 2019 demo version of Ubisoft's Gods & Monsters on the Stadia store. Hundreds of gamers were able to play the game for less than 30 minutes." We sincerely apologize to our partners at Ubisoft for this mistake.

Gods & Monsters was announced at E3 2019 and was scheduled to launch in February. However, due to the performance of The Division 2 and Ghost Recon Breakpoint, Ubisoft has decided to delay Watch Dogs Legion, Rainbow Six Quarantine, and Gods & Monsters until this year.

The publisher now plans to release five "triple-A" games by April 2021, including the three postponed games and "Assassin's Creed Valhalla." The company has warned investors that another delay is possible, but "Gods & Monsters" is apparently in a "polishing period," so hopefully it should officially arrive sometime next year.
