BloodRayne is back and under new ownership.

Ziggurat Interactive is bringing back an unlikely series: Bloodrayne. The publisher acquired the early 2000s action games Advent Rising, Flip's Twisted World, and Raze's Hell from Majesco, but it plans to do more than just bear its name.

They are working with the original developer, Terminal Reality, to update the PC version, but it does not appear to be a remaster, only mentioning improved compatibility and "various enhancements." Presumably this does not include BloodRayne: Betrayal, a side-scrolling hack-and-slash title released by another developer in 2014.

Another game could be in the works; Ziggurat Interactive president Wade Rosen has said that the company is taking the opportunity to expand the BloodRayne universe seriously.

Back in 2003, we gave the game a score of 58 and said we wouldn't enjoy it for very long. It is amazing that the film has proved so enduring. Like the film, it may have some B-movie novelty, but few people will be eager to play it again.

Ziggurat has not announced an update date, but the game is available in its original form on Steam.
