PAX Australia 2020 has been cancelled.

PAX Australia will not be held in 2020, organizers announced today. The three-day event was scheduled to take place October 9-11 at the Melbourne Convention Center, but will not be held this year due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

"We have worked hard with our partners and exhibitors to explore all viable options, but our desire to deliver the best PAX Aus ever has led to the next PAX Aus being held in 2021," the statement reads.

Although the main physical event has been canceled, the statement suggests that other (possibly online) alternatives are being considered, and these will be announced in the next few days.

This is the full statement:

Although social segregation measures are gradually being eased in Australia, as of June 21, restrictions are still too high to hold conventions. In theaters and auditoriums, the maximum number of seated guests per venue is limited to 50, all subject to the "4 square meter rule."
