Steam Game Festival: Summer Edition Gets Over 900 Free Demos

Steam Game Festival: Summer Edition has gone live, kicking off a week-long digital event featuring live streaming, AMAs, chats with developers, and demos to try out many of the upcoming games right now.

At this very moment, the developers of the puzzle platformer "Something Ate My Alien" are live streaming at the top of the Game Fest page. Below that, the schedule of events is posted, and further down, more specific categories of games are listed.

The Game Fest page does not have a dedicated list of game demos, but Steam does have a dedicated demo search, and the list is huge (and now that I've looked at it again, it seems to be growing). Here are a few games I've checked out recently and thought looked interesting:

This is really just the tip of the iceberg, especially if you're gainfully employed or like things like eating and sleeping, and a week doesn't seem like a lot to wade through all of that. But it's a great opportunity to take a closer look at upcoming games you've had your eye on, or try something new that wouldn't normally catch your eye. A game featuring an incessantly hilarious bird on a tiny skateboard might not normally be something you'd look at, but if you can try it out for free, there's no reason not to.

Let's note that the current situation is a bit confusing: some store pages have a very visible "Download Demo" link and green button, while others have a much smaller button buried in the middle of the right sidebar. The easiest way to access at least one of the highlighted game demos is to hover over that entry on the game festival page and hit the "Install Demo" button that pops up. (If the demo is not available, it will be grayed out.)

The Steam Game Festival: Summer Edition runs through June 22 and most of the demos will be finished. Are there any good demos I missed? Let us know in the comments.
