Assassin's Creed: "Assassin's Creed Origins" free this weekend

If you have a free weekend and think it would be fun to travel back in time to ancient Egypt, kill a bunch of people, and wage a secret war spanning thousands of years between two shadowy groups vying for control of humanity, good news: Assassin's Creed Origins is free for the weekend!

Origins is free for the weekend.

Origins is the story of Bayek, who gets into a tangle with some guys, goes underground, and comes back for revenge; released in 2017, it's a few years old now, but it's also really good. Chris called it "one of the strongest games in the series" with an 84% review, and we picked it as the Best Open World Game in our year-end roundup. That's pretty impressive for a series that's been around for 10 years at that point (with the same number of games in the main series and spin-offs).

To see what it's all about, jump over to ubisoft.com, log into your account, launch the Uplay client (download and install it first if you want), and start preloading. Assassin's Creed Origins' free weekend runs from 9 a.m. local time on June 19 to 4 p.m. on June 21.
