Square Enix Games Return to Nvidia's GeForce Now Streaming Service

Video games published by Square Enix are returning to Nvidia's GeForce Now streaming service today. Square Enix had withdrawn games from the service prior to the official launch of the cloud streaming service, but has decided to reintroduce a number of its most popular games.

Square Enix games available on Nvidia GeForce Now include:

Both "Deus Ex" titles will coincide with the series' 20th anniversary and will also see the return of the "Life is Strange" series.

Square Enix appears to have finally resolved its contract friction with Nvidia in order for its games to appear on the streaming service again. Square Enix was one of the first publishers to remove their games before or shortly after the streaming service was launched. This was due to a contractual disagreement between Nvidia and publishers, many of whom have the final say in where and how their games are streamed.

I still have some concerns about what this means for cloud streaming platforms as a whole and their future in the gaming industry. However, it is encouraging that at least one publisher has returned to GeForce Now, which suggests an aggressive behind-the-scenes effort by Nvidia to win back publishers after its initial foray.

Square Enix games will be available starting at 21:00 BST (16:00 EST/13:00 PST). Titles added to this service include:

Nvidia GeForce Now is a cloud gaming service that gives gamers a way to play their own game library via an Internet connection to a server with embedded GeForce GeForce embedded servers. The company recently announced that the £4.99/€5.49 tier, which reached capacity shortly after its release, is once again available for purchase.
