Bungie Raises $800,000 for Charity at Gaming Community Expo Marathon

During the ongoing Gaming Community Expo 2020 Charity Marathon, Bungie, with tremendous help from the Destiny 2 community, raised $800,000 in just four hours for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

The donation will be used to fund concept art for the Destiny 2 expansion "Beyond Light," which will be released in September, legendary weapons from Beyond Light, and in return for a big payoff, the return of the Hawkmoon, the exotic hand cannon from the original Destiny It also brought perks to Destiny 2 players, including the appearance of the "Hawkmoon.

The original Hawkmoon had a 13-round magazine with three special rounds and a "Luck in the Chamber" perk that inflicted additional damage. However, according to comments on Reddit, Destiny 2 director Luke Smith has confirmed that the Hawkmoon perk, similar to what happened with previous Destiny exotic hand cannon returnees Thorn and Ace of Spades, will be reworked for Destiny 2 to be recalibrated for Destiny 2.

The Hawkmoon's RNG rounds could very occasionally lead to a one-hit kill in Crucible PvP, and along with its horrendous pre-nerf range, it was one of the best primary weapons in the game. We won't know what this new version will look like until September, but we can assure Destiny 2 junkies are excited about the return of what he calls "by far the coolest gun in Destiny in terms of aesthetics."

The GCX2020 marathon will run nonstop until June 21, concluding with a four-hour block by DrLupo from 8 am to 12 pm ET. Incidentally, the promised Beyond Light concept art is here, showing off the concept of the new power "stasis" that will be part of the Beyond Light expansion.

CORRECTION: This post originally referred to the GCX2020 event as the "Gaming Collective Expo." This has now been corrected.
