CD Projekt's postponement of the release of Cyberpunk 2077 from the planned September to November 19 was disappointing but not entirely surprising, CD Projekt's vice president of business development Michał Nowakowski told investors in a During a follow-up call, he said that the postponement would also affect the schedule for post-release content, including the planned multiplayer mode.

"For example, a character could be walking down the street and pass by a lantern as if it didn't exist. So obviously you don't want that to happen in the final build of the game.

"There are many other things that can happen besides this. Under certain circumstances, light effects can go wrong. In such a huge environment, these bugs need to be eliminated before we hand the game over to the players.

"We don't want to have their experience ruined by something like it raining and it's 4:01 am and they walk out of some bar on some street and night turns into day for 3 seconds. That's what's happening and we're trying to fix it."

In the same call, Adam Kiciński, co-CEO of CD Projekt, said that the developers "really believe" that the November 19 release date will hold. 'That's all I can say right now, but of course a decision like this would be discrediting,' Kiciński said. 'We try to be as rational as possible when making final decisions. For now, this is our view - we believe the game will be released on November 19."
