Star Wars: Squadrons will be a first-person game

First-person cockpits are the best. Not only can you see all the switches and tools that make flying in the sky (or space) possible with complex technology, but it's even cooler when the pilot can manually reach in and turn the knobs. But the cockpit view is often dwarfed by the obviously superior wide-angle third-person perspective. That's why it's nice to see "Star Wars: Squadrons" played exclusively from a first-person perspective. According to a recent interview with creative director Ian Frazier conducted by Gamespot, the game can be played exclusively from a first-person perspective.

"The whole game is designed from the first-person perspective from start to finish," Frazier told Gamespot. 'You are the pilot. All the daisetic information is built into the hud, so you can turn off all the game layer UI if you want and just rely on the instruments. We want it to be a core experience."

Frazier also explained that the locking of the first-person perspective comes down to multiplayer balance. If everyone can fly around in third-person view, it is obviously desirable to maximize the field of view in combat. This has been the pattern in all recent "Battlefield" games featuring airplanes and even the space battles in "Battlefront 2."

Frazier stated that at least when spectating, one can see the ship from a third-person perspective.

We also recently learned that "Star Wars: Squadrons" has zero microtransactions and was not designed with a "live service strategy." It's also priced at $40, which is cheaper than $60, which is cool; Samuel also shared his thoughts on why "Star Wars: Squadrons" is exciting for PC gamers.
