MSI Announces "Made in America" Gaming Desktop Product Line Starting at $799

MSI is preparing to offer a new line of reasonably priced gaming desktops that are assembled in the USA with parts sourced from other parts of the world. The cheapest one (Aegis SE) costs $799 and features an Intel Core i5 10400F processor, GeForce GTX 1660 Super graphics card, 8GB of DDR4-3000 RAM, 240GB SSD + 1TB HDD.

Considering the retail price of Windows 10, the price is about the same as building a similar system yourself, but 8GB of RAM and a 240GB SSD are not necessarily recommended.

The new setup is part of MSI's MIA gaming desktop line, with "MIA" meaning "Made in America." [The company told our friends at Tom's Hardware that this is to facilitate the shipment of products to North America, but did not provide details on what financial incentives this decision may be related to. While it may be to avoid tariffs, some of the actual components still remain to be imported.

The other three configurations include Codex R (starting at $899), Aegis R (starting at $1,399), and Aegis RS (starting at $1,699).

The top-end Aegis RX combines a Core i9 10900K processor (the best CPU for gaming strictly from a performance standpoint) with an RTX 2080 Super. It also features up to 32GB of RAM, up to 1TB SSD + 2TB HDD for storage, and up to 750W 80 Plus Gold power supply.

All systems also come with a Vigor GK30 keyboard and a Clutch GM11 mouse, which together are worth about $65.

The overall price looks good at first glance, but for the three high-end configurations it will depend on what is included in the stock setup.
