AMD intends to make it easier to file bug reports in the event of GPU crashes.

In March, AMD said that while posting on Reddit about graphics problems related to Radeon hardware is helpful, submitting actual bug reports directly to the company is a better course of action. AMD's Radeon software utility makes it make it easy to do so.

As discovered by a Reddit user (Ceremony64), the latest Radeon Software Adrenalin 2020 Edition driver package (version 20.20.01.05) includes the latest Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL) functionality for those participating in the Windows Insider program who are testing it.

"Yes, this is a new feature, and we'll have more on it soon. Feel free to try out the preview driver!" replied a member of AMD's Radeon community team.

Submitting bug reports to AMD is nothing new, nor is initiating actions from the Radeon software utility. However, instead of sending the user to AMD's website, where specific system specifications must be entered manually by the user, the new built-in tool automatically collects the necessary information. The user still needs to provide a description of the problem, but the streamlined process is much more convenient and potentially more accurate.

This is a welcome move on AMD's part. The black screen issue has been a particular nuisance for owners of the Radeon RX 5000 series over the past few months, keeping AMD's driver team busy.

Hopefully this is something AMD will roll out soon, rather than waiting for the next big Windows 10 update (due out in the fall).

Thanks, Tom's Hardware
