Dell Announces New XPS Desktop Gaming PC with Nvidia RTX Graphics

Dell is working on a new desktop XPS gaming PC, reportedly coming in July 2020 and featuring RTX graphics to power "creation, gaming, and VR."

This new model appears to be quite different from the previous XPS Tower. It has an Intel 9th generation Core processor and a GeForce GTX 1660 Ti, which are adequate specs, but not nearly as good as the RTX series graphics touted in the shiny new XPS desktop that looks so good.

The new chassis looks much closer to the lineup of XPS laptops, which are considerably more attractive than their black-box predecessors, with bare aluminum and Mac Pro styling. Dell says it's a "minimalist design," but honestly, it could go either way.

You can see it in the following tweet Curiously, this tweet contains a typo, but the previously deleted one does not.

But we should know more soon: the XPS Desktop will be available in July 2020, before we see the final design.

At the very least, we can be sure that the XPS Desktop will deliver great gaming performance when it arrives; the RTX Studio program is Nvidia's attempt to create a tailor-made laptop and PC segment for creators and and promises performance and features beyond the RTX 2060. This includes ray tracing and AI acceleration using RT and Tensor cores, respectively.
