The ninth Ys game is coming to Steam next year as Ys IX: Monstrum Nox. Like its predecessor, "Ys VIII: The Treasures of Dana," it has a rather unflattering name, but otherwise seems to have a refreshing finish.

Adol remains the protagonist, this time adventuring through the city of Barduk, which the Steam page describes as "huge." Adol and his sidekick Dogi arrive in this city, where Adol is imprisoned (which is bad) and then transformed into a "monstrum" (which is good) and given the power to repel an unspecified threat from the Grimwald Knox dimension.

Definitely a JRPG. Lacrimosa of Dana was a serviceable and hilarious action RPG, and the combat in this sequel seems much improved, with a wealth of new movement options.
