QuakeCon goes online in August.

General
QuakeCon goes online in August.

QuakeCon 2020, which was scheduled to take place in August, was canceled in March, but will apparently continue as the online event QuakeCon at Home.

With the coronavirus making it unclear whether people would be able to attend the convention, and convention planning a major challenge, Bethesda said it is looking at other ways to "celebrate the spirit of QuakeCon." And today they revealed what that might look like.

Specific details of the online convention will be announced at a later date, but expect live streams, tournaments, charity fundraisers, and "fun secrets."

Unfortunately, one of the highlights of the convention, the bring-your-own-PC big LAN party, will not be replicated online, but a special online multiplayer event may be held in its place.

QuakeCon at Home will take place August 7-9.
