Update Fable and Perfect Dark's Twitter accounts are apparently not worth expecting.

ORIGINAL STORY As discovered by keen observers on social media, two of Microsoft's now defunct series, Fable and Perfect Dark, both have placeholder Twitter accounts. One was registered in March and the other in June. Digging deeper, one of the protected accounts has a Microsoft employee as its only follower.

Of course, this alone doesn't mean much. However, Microsoft's next online conference, which will replace E3, is scheduled for July, and at the last conference, "Assassin's Creed Valhalla" was revealed and the PC version of "Yakuza" was confirmed: also, "Bloodlines 2," "Dirt 5 ", "Madden NFL 21", "Scorn", and a few other follow-up games were also announced, so expect at least a couple of big announcements. And the return of popular games coming to the Xbox Series X and Windows 10 will definitely be it.

Lionhead, the original Fable studio, no longer exists, but Playground Games has been rumored to be working on a new Fable game for at least the last few years. Microsoft did not mention Fable at E3 2019, but Matt Booty, president of Microsoft Game Studios, said they have several things in the works for 2020.

Rare's FPS series Perfect Dark has never been released on PC before, and it would certainly be nice to see either a port of the original or a sequel. However, given the lack of rumors or leaks related to this game of the two, it seems unlikely. For now, though, this is still just speculation.

Update: Aaron Greenberg, General Manager of Xbox Games Marketing, said, "These accounts have been inactive for years. This is certainly unfortunate.

A reader wearing a conspiracy hat was quick to point out that these accounts were only registered in 2020, but it turns out that the owner of the Perfect Dark account is just a fan who signed up after seeing the @fable account exist. So while there is still some reason to suspect that the Playground Games rumor is true, the chances of anything happening with Perfect Dark seem even lower than before.
