Focus Home Acquires The Surge Developer Deck13

French publisher Focus Home Interactive has acquired German studio Deck13, developer of the soul-like series "The Surge" and "Lords of the Fallen" (though not the sequel in question) Focus Home has worked with Deck13 worked with them in the past, serving as publisher for two games in "The Surge" series, and is generally known as the publisher of "Farming Simulator," "SnowRunner," "Vampyr," "A Plague Tale," and "Greedfall" among others.

Focus Home acquired Deck13's 60-person staff as well as their intellectual property and indie publishing sideline known for bringing Radical Fish's popular action RPG "CrossCode" in 2018. The deal was worth €7.1 million, or about $7,976,000.

Jürgen Geldner, Chairman of the Focus Home Management Board, said (via Businesswire), "We are very pleased to welcome the Deck13 team and look forward to working together to achieve our ambitious goals. This acquisition is a major milestone in our growth story and strengthens our business model. The acquisition will be financed by a new bank loan of EUR 46 million.
