You can get an 8-button gaming mouse for only $10.

Gaming mice are not usually impulse buys, but they sure can be at this bargain price: at Newegg, the Rosewill ION D12 mouse is available for just $9.99. I've spent more at Starbucks just to buy a drink and a snack.

Disclaimer: I have never actually used the D12. For the price, I'm willing to give it a try. With a winged design for left thumb placement (ergonomically designed for right-handed users), it looks like a decent gaming mouse and the specs are not bad, with an adjustable 4,000 DPI sensor and 8 buttons (3 of which are dedicated to DPI and polling settings)

Rosewind.

According to Rosewill, the polling rate is adjustable from 125 Hz to 1,000 Hz. The polling rate measures how often the mouse reports its position to the PC; the faster it is, the less lag there is. Most gaming mice have a polling rate of 1,000 Hz, which equates to 1,000 times per second, or once per millisecond (1 ms).

The D12 has mostly positive reviews, although not many. One complaint is that it does not come with custom software to remap the buttons. At full price ($39.99), this would be a bigger issue, but the discount makes it seem like a perfectly suitable mouse. If nothing else, it could serve as a low-cost backup.
